Some of you might have noticed a short period of downtime for both our website and our app. It took a bit more time than usually, when we're just pushing out some updates or new features, but we had a very good reason for it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Our server provider recently introduced NVMe SSDs for our external storage. Everything else except from pattern, variation and unfinished pattern images were already stored on a lightning fast SSD storage, but we have so many pattern images we have to keep on our server, that it just didn't fit to the internal storage. Up until now, the external storage was using plain old HDD drives. They worked very well, but there were cases when the performance hit was pretty noticeable. Sometimes, it could be seen while just browsing patterns on the site, but there were also some places like the "Create Patterns" section where it was especially noticeable if you had a huge amount of patterns in progress ๐Ÿ™‚.

This upgrade will also help us taking some load off of the server, as it will just spend a lot less time serving those images. I'm super excited about it and was waiting for it since we had to migrate our pattern images to the external storage! I didn't like the idea of storing them on plain old hard drives right from the beginning, but it was sadly the only option back then ๐Ÿ™.

Thank you very much for your patience during the downtime and sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused you ๐Ÿ˜‡. But I'm sure you'll notice the improvement and see it was well worth the wait! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks a lot for reading, and as always, happy tying everyone! โค๏ธ
