As you might've noticed, we had a couple of downtimes in the recent days during which our website wasn't accessible, so I wanted to let you know what was happening 🙂.

Every once in a while we have to update a lot of stuff on the server to ensure we're running the latest and greatest versions of linux and all the related packages we use to run the website. Those updates are necessary to ensure we're always on top with all the security updates and tweaks / optimisations that the linux and other package maintainers released.

I did the best that I could for it to take the least possible time, but some downtime was inevitable. I'm really sorry for any inconvenience this might've caused you 😇.

The good news is that as of now, all the maintenance tasks are finished, went smoothly and the server is up and running again. We'll now be monitoring it for a couple of days with our moderators to ensure everything is stable and working as expected. Updates like this are very difficult to perform, and are always pretty invasive as there's a lot of variables at play.

For those of you who are curious, I updated our linux operating system to the latest stable release of Debian, then our database server where we store all of our data, our web server which communicates with your web browsers and basically delivers the website to you, then Python which is the programming language BraceletBook is written in and also all the other packages and dependencies installed on the server.

I'm super relieved and glad this all went well and that everything is running without hiccups. If you notice the site being slower than usual or something not working as expected, please make sure to drop me a DM 🙂.

Thank you very much for your patience during the downtimes and also for reading!

Happy tying everyone! 😇
