For the last two weeks I've been working very hard on something I've been postponing for a very long time now, but it had to be done at some point ๐Ÿ™‚. It's not something that's visible for you end users at all, but rather something that will allow us to continue storing all of the content you are submitting to the website daily.

The number of submissions we receive every day was growing very rapidly over the last year, which is great! But all the content has to be stored somewhere and it started taking a huge amount of space on our server. We can always upgrade the server, but this time we've chosen a different approach.

We looked into how images are actually stored on the server, what formats and resolutions we really need and found out there's a huge room for optimisations. And the end result is great! We managed to squash the size of photos to 25% of the space that was previously needed, which makes a huge impact and makes BraceletBook a lot more scalable in the long run! ๐Ÿ™‚

During this big migration, you might've noticed a few downtimes, so I'm sorry about that, but there wasn't any way around it. At this point, everything is finished and I'm still monitoring the server just in case ๐Ÿ˜‰.

I'm really happy about having this done, and can now continue working on features which will actually be visible on the website when they're finished! ๐ŸŽ‰
