The interactive normal pattern generator is finally here! 🎉🎉🎉

I'm super excited to share this news with all of you today! 🙂 It really took us a long time, but the wait is now finally ending, and the new generator is here! To find it, just open up your pattern in the 'create patterns' section, and you'll see a new generator to switch to on the top of the page. Exactly the same way as we had it already for alphas.

For those who are wondering, it's not the solution Masha Knots is working on, because that's quite a bit more complicated and will take some more time to finish. But there's no problem adding it to the website, too, when it's done.

Both of these solutions have some upsides and downsides, but after seeing how well this new generator works, I'm not quite sure which one would win for me 🙂. The current solution is a bit less responsive, as the one Masha is working on. The reason is that it's running on our servers, and it's exactly the same generator as you've been used to. It's just better optimised for performance and used in a bit different way. So every time you perform an action on the website, a request is made to the server, which in turn generates a completely new SVG, and sends it over to your device. As I said, the downside to this is that it's a bit slower, but a great thing about it is that we didn't have to duplicate basically any existing code. It will be a lot easier to maintain and is already tested very well, as we're using it for quite a while.

The solution Masha is working on is a complete rewrite to a different programming language, which can run directly in your web browser. But as I said, there's nothing holding us from adding both solutions to the site later on 🙂.

The only thing that is not yet implemented is the ability to use 0-knots. That was quite a bit more challenging than I was expecting, but will definitely be added in the future 😉.
