Fixing ratings 🎉

Yes, finally! 🎉🎉🎉

We've been thinking a lot with our moderators on how to fix the rating system on BraceletBook, and I can now finally say that the first stage is done! 🙂 We've made it so that only users with higher ranks are now able to give your patterns and tutorials lower ratings. The higher the rank, the lower rating a user can give. For example beginners can only give 5 stars, and when they rank up, they can also give 4 stars, but not less until they get ranked up again 🙂. We've also removed all the ratings from our database that didn't match these new criteria, which was approx. 2% of all our ratings, but all of them were very likely malicious. So you can now check the ratings of your patterns, in case you've received bad ones on purpose in the past 🙂. It should be a lot better now, and also from now on 🙂.

This should fix one half of our problem. The second thing we're planning on doing is the ability to change existing ratings you give. Giving ratings now is a bit tricky, and we know that it sometimes happens that you click a wrong star by accident, and then realise there's no way back. So we're also planning on fixing that.

All of this should make our rating system better for all of you! 🙂 And if you sometimes get a low rating, at least you know it's not by some random user, but by someone who is active in the community for a pretty long time 😉.
