Home page tweaks and improvements 😎

Today I got into another couple of to-dos we had planned for the website. They're all connected with a page that is being viewed the most on BraceletBook - the home page. Most of the tasks were actually suggestions from you, our users.

Hottest patterns algorithm
The hottest patterns algorithm we had worked pretty well, until we added moderators to the site. This doesn't mean they're doing anything wrong, I'm in fact very happy about all of them, they're doing such a great job! The problem was that the algorithm takes the time when patterns get posted into account, and it was designed to work best when items got approved only once, or twice a day. I did rethink it all from scratch, and the results it shows now should be a lot more consistent and accurate.

More items on the home page!
Yay! That's a thing a lot of you have requested. We're now displaying a lot more items in all the sections of our home page. It makes a lot of sense especially for the 'hottest patterns' section, as this is the only place where they can be found 🙂.

Cleaning up the bottom part of the homepage
There was a LOT of things on the bottom of our home page, and it made it look a bit ugly and cluttered. The BB description image, facebook and pinterest iframes, like buttons, share buttons, follow buttons, tweet buttons, and like buttons again 😄, that's all gone now, and the home page looks a lot more clean than before.

New social site sharing buttons under the header of each section!
We've updated the social buttons we're using on every page on BraceletBook. It's the small buttons you should see on the right side, directly under the header. They now also show how many times a page has been shared or liked on social sites, so feel free to use it as often as possible to share any content you find on BraceletBook with your friends. We will be more than happy to see that!
